what are your thoughts on the NIPT test?

pros/ cons? was it accurate/ inaccurate for gender and chromosomal abnormalities?

I had it done. Accurate. I think it's an extremely important test for determining chromosomal abnormality and can often avoid more invasive testing like amniocentesis. The gender is the icing on the cake, but I was so relieved to hear that everything looked good.

My husband and I had it done and we were so happy we did. For one, it relieved so much worry that we had. It was just an extra assurance that we had a perfectly healthy baby in there. Knowing the gender was great because I’m not big on surprises. We gave her a name immediately after the results and it made her feel a lot more “real.” I know that’s odd to say but the pregnancy didn’t really feel as real until we named her and later, when I could feel her kicking. The upfront cost if it’s not covered by insurance is nuts (over $2,000) but we were told that if we called the company after we got the bill that the company could reduce the cost to around $250. Our insurance ended up paying enough of it that we didn’t need to call the company.

I did my NT scan at 12 weeks 5 days they claiming the baby's nose is a bit small. Everything else was normal. The baby moved around like crazy.. it was just So cute. So naturally I've been freaking out since. I then went in for my bloodwork last week at 13 weeks 3 days(I think). I'm now waiting on my results. My next appt isn't until this Thursday. I was really hoping my obgyn would call me and tell me something. My husband think it might be a good thing but I don't know. I won't be doing anymore tests. I can't take the pressure of worrying and waiting for results. I will not be doing any of this in my next pregnancy.

I had it done because we needed to know sex of baby for medical reasons. It was accurate. My doctor said the only time it’s not is if it’s done too early.

It’s a blood test so chances of it being wrong for gender is very unlikely 😬 I only did it for the gender lol but just confirmed at my anatomy ultrasound that all looks good
