COPPER IUD pains??

I got my IUD put in almost 9 months ago and I got it checked once after a couple weeks I got it and the nurse said it’s in place.. BUT my period cramps are worse than ever since I got it, and I’m bleeding so heavy I have to wake up in the middle of the night to change my pad!? Is this normal? Does anyone else experience something like this? HELP!!

My doctor told me that the side effects to the copper IUD is heavy periods and cramping so I wouldn’t stress🙈 I got bad cramps when I was on no birth control and they feel no different now.i do bleed heavier with the iud and I also need to change in the middle of the night which sucks. 
What’s happening to your body sucks but it’s totally normal. Just drink plenty of water, rest, do some light exercise and apply heat to wherever you’re cramping :)

I kept mine in for about a year until I couldn’t handle the painful cramps any longer. They were debilitating. It’s been almost a year since I had it removed and my periods are the lightest and the least painful they’ve been in my entire life

i never had period cramps or heavy periods before i got the paraguard, it’s just a symptom of the iud. ive had it for two years and the cramps are bad and i bleed really heavy for like two or the days. but i would also recommend checking the strings every month to make sure it’s in place!
