When do doctors check your cervix for dilation?

Ive seen so many posts about people being x cm dilated. Im 33 weeks (due end of august) and my next appnt is next week at 34 weeks. Not high risk, no current concerns. Should I expect them to check me then? How do they check?

Just had my 36 week appointment & got checked for group b & first time I got my cervix checked

Mine wanted to check me at 36/37 weeks but I declined as a woman can be dilated for weeks before actually going into labor.

My doc starts checking at 35 weeks. That's when they also test for group b.

It depends on the doctor you should ask them when they will start checking!!! I am 36 weeks and haven't been checked yet as it can cause infections and irritation. All they do is stick there fingers in your vagina until they can feel your cervix! You seem a little early still for checks especially since you have a "normal" pregnancy.

I don’t get checked till after 40weeks. It’s unnecessary unless for medical reasons. It causes unnecessary stress for mamas- could irritate the cervix and cause spotting and cramping. And stress you out if your not dilating mote any the next appt. And it can introduce bacteria. Some women walk around dilated for weeks and others don’t dilate till labor.

My doctor will at 36 if I ask her to. But she also told me it can cause bleeding/cramping which can be confused for your bloody show and going into labor. I don’t think I’m going to have them check. I’m high risk and they think I will be delivering early anyways. But baby will come when she’s ready!
