My daughter won't sleep in her cot

It seems to be getting worse. There are days she seems fine but we literally have to sit for ages until shes in a deep sleep and then transfer her. I'm trying to put her down for a nap and she's screaming as soon as her head touches her cot. I need to go back to work soon, so I need her to be in a routine. It's been soo tiring, most of the time she ends up sleeping next to me attached to my booob. I want to stop breast feeding cos for once it's really painful. My daughter is 10 months old. Does anyone have any tips? I've tried a night light that sings lullabies, bathing her before bed, putting a cuddly toy on her arm and a piece of my clothing. The only time she might sleep throughout the day without a long process is when I go out, but a day like today I have too much to do and it's not guaranteed she'll sleep.
