Is your baby potty trained?

Now that my son is 21 months old, more and more people are starting to ask me if he’s potty trained.

If you’re interested I recommend the book “Oh Crap potty training” we started at the beginning of June and it worked really well for us!

We started at 19th months (now almost 21 months) and now she doesn’t wear diapers during the day, only sleep times. Even if we go out, she can use public restrooms. Pee was much easier, took 2 weeks but poop is still somewhat a struggle. At first she refused pooping in potty for 3-4 weeks then she got used to- thank god! Now She is very comfortable about it but it takes very long. She poops regularly twice a day after lunch time and before bed time and wanting to spend 30 mins to 1 hour on potty before she does. So it is extra work for one of us every-time. We sit down with her and read, paint until she goes so cannot get anything else done at home. Now my mom is here helping us, but I don’t know what will happen when she goes to daycare and we come home at 6:30-7 pm. Feeding her dinner, bathing and all that poop waiting is gonna take forever... I don’t know how we can make her poop faster🤷🏻‍♀️ But overall I agree with other commenters who said it is a marathon and you need to be very very patient.

I started putting my girl on the potty since she was 11 months old. I used to take her to it in intervals where I feel it’s about time she went n then she does go in it since then but would also have accidents outside when u would be late or forget to take her to it. I would put her in diapers when we traveled out but at home it’s no diapers just panties. She started telling us she wanted to go poo before 18 months and last month @ 20 months, she started saying that for pees as well. I still put her in diapers when we step out of home just incase I’m unable to take her to a Convenient toilet when we r out. But yes she does currently mention when she wants to go pee and poo. So I guess u can say she’s potty trained. 
U can start seating them on the potty from the time they start sitting up. Potty training they say starts with the parents. If u get them familiar with the potty, they will go in them whenever u put them on it. It’s just that initially u need to spend a lot of time taking them to it everytime at intervals. I am a SAHM so I was present to do it. I didn’t like the idea of diapers on her 24x7, So I made sure she peed and pooped in the mini potty I got her so that she isn’t walking around even for a min in her pee or poo. I guess that’s what helped us. From what I have read, earlier American babies used to be potty trained by 18 months n now the average is 2-3 years. When u put them on the pot earlier on, they aren’t scared of it n get familiarised with it unlike when they are around 2-3 where they show resistance. Even according to the Montessori system there is a sensitive period for potty training (which I think it says around 18 months) n if u miss that window then later u face resistance.

My daughter is 20 months & has started potty training at 17 months. But at her daycare they start potty training all babies at 18 months.  She’s able to tell me when she has to go and will hold her pee/ poop until I place her on the pot m but not fully potty trained. I feel as if it’s not a bad thing to introduce the little one to the potty earlier if they feel comfortable. It helps with the process & makes potty training easier in my opinion. 🤷🏽‍♀️

She’s peed on the potty 4 times and thinks it’s a fun thing to do but we’re not “training” yet. I think it’s too soon but definitely encouraging her when she wants to!

She loves to sit on the potty, wipe, flush, and wash her hands. We have the routine down. Now to just actually pee in the potty. She usually tells us right after she’s gone and not before. So almost there!
