College Advice??

Question

So I’m going into my senior year and everyone I know has a plan on what profession to go into and I’m here stressing. I thought psychology, someone told me nursing, and there was also veterinary medicine. All I know is that I’m thoroughly confused. I want to be able to work after 4 years if possible, does anyone know of any careers like this?

Hey! Fellow senior here. I was hugely undecided until a few weeks ago. I didn’t know if I wanted to go into publishing (I love to read and write and have a passion for editing, but don’t know if it’s anything I consider more than a hobby) or physical therapy (a short phase I had before I realized I don’t like dealing with people...lol) or literally anything else (I still haven’t explored a lot of things).
It could be helpful to think of what you know you definitely don’t want to do. For example, I know I don’t want to be a politician, so that knocks out a path of studying political science or international relations.
The thing that has helped me the most is talking to people with jobs you are considering. Go to your closest veterinary hospital and ask if someone has time to talk to you about what working there is like. You can also try talking to your school friends and asking if their parents work in any field you are interested in (sometimes chatting with someone you know is easier than interrogating a stranger about their job). 
I think the best thing to do is an internship. Not only do they look good to colleges but they help you get a glimpse of what working in a certain place is like. You might not be performing a surgery on a dog but you can help the owner check in beforehand at the front desk. Internships are really good for feeling out the vibe of a place (hospitals may be too frantic but a therapist office might be too slow). Even if you end up not liking your internship, that’s another thing you can add to your list of things you’re not going to do. 
It might feel like everyone has it figured out but that’s not the case. Someone I know dead set on becoming an engineer hated it and switched to education instead. You’ll figure it out!

Omg the things I could tell you about my freshman year in college🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️. Focus on classes but have fun . Go out and explore meet new people. Wake up on time plzzzz and make it to class. If you are sick or something notify all teachers immediately and always have an excuse

I'm a kinesiology major and am interested in becoming a occupational therapist it's over 4 but not a ton over. It involves science and helping people. Kinesiology is science and helping people and has tons of jobs you could get from it that involve 4 years if you want to look into it. Its also called exercise science.

don’t underestimate going to a community college and just exploring what you like. especially if you want to save money. if not, then take a wide variety of different classes at a university until you find something you like!
