Hi all just wondering how many of you breastfeed in front of friends at home (or others homes)?

I’ve been doing it but recently I had a friend say that they have rooms at their house for breastfeeding so now I’m wondering if I made anyone uncomfortable.

I always ask everyone I'm with (before I start) if they're chill with me taking a boob out for feeding. They always say yes, but I think at this point I still ask because it's more of a "heads up" so if they want to look away until baby is on they can. Then we resume the convo as usual. 
I do have one family member uncomfortable around it, and I'm totally okay with going to another room to do it. But that could also be because I myself need social breaks and privately feeding my baby is a good opportunity to get away and relax.

I do not breastfeed infront of men at all, not even when I am covered (besides my husband), the women in my family I am not bothered by at all but all depends on the relationship I have with them. I love breastfeeding but I am so insecure about being open in public.

If my friends have seen my boobs then I don’t consider them my true friends 😂 the only time I’ve used my cover with my friends is if their SO was with them so I wouldn’t make them feel awkward.

I typically double shirt. A tank top underneath and something on top. The tank top goes down and the shirt goes up. I'm pretty much covered. I hate using a cover, it's such a hassle. Around friends and family I don't care but in public I try to be slightly more discreet. She may have just offered thinking it might make you more comfortable? Also once your babe gets older they get distracted more easily and you might want to go to another room. That what happened with my first. Not for privacy but because she'd always unlatch to see what was happening. I've honestly never had anyone say anything. My Dad was far more uncomfortable with my first and would stop looking directly at me or go on his phone. Lol! But now he realizes I'm just feeding my kid and I don't care.

No. I’m just not comfortable exposing myself like that. Even if it is a normal, natural thing.

If they're a friend, then ask them. No need to wonder whether you made them uncomfortable. Ask why they offered a room.  The reality is you need to feed your baby if he/she is hungry. If they don't want to be around you doing so, then it's up to each of you whether you'll spend time together. No friend should make you feel like you have to hide to breastfeed, but there's nothing wrong with offering a place to do so if she thought you were uncomfortable feeding without privacy. It depends on intentions and tone though.
I've been kindly offered a more comfortable feeding space by others, but I've also had someone annoyed telling me where the toilets were (just toilet stalls; not with seating/feeding space) to use for it. I breastfeed without a cover and use one hand to cover the top half of my exposed breast. I like to try to be a little discreet but I don't do so using a cover. I've fed around friends and spouses of friends. There isn't any difference to them or me.

With baby one I would
Often go to another room. With baby two, i will feed anywhere in front of anyone. I don’t use a cover because I’m just not coordinated enough. And I don’t like continuing the idea that breastfeeding is something that should be hidden.

It’s your home, don’t feel ashamed. It’s legal everywhere but you should feel especially comfortable in your home. I use a cover if my dad or father in law is over and visiting with me because I just can’t whip the boob out in front of them 😂 but I never ask. Breasts are for feeding babies, not men. Don’t feel bad if someone is offended by you feeding your child. Its too much to juggle tiptoeing around sensitive people.

If I nurse around anyone other than my husband, mom, mother in law or sisters I just drape a light muslin blanket over me. If someone invites me to their home they know I have a newborn and I nurse and if they expect me to get up and go to another room I just wouldn't go to their house anymore. I'm not going to flop my breasts out in front of them, I will use a blanket to cover so it shouldn't be an issue. If someone is uncomfortable even if you're covered up then it's their problem.

I only do it in front of a  few people at home. I'm not comfortable trying in public.
