Diabetes test?

My doctor gave me this big bottle of orange liquid I have to drink before I go to my next appointment she said it was for blood work and something to do with diabetes. Has anyone else done this yet, what does it taste like? I feel nervous bc I hear it’s like pure sugar and sugar makes my anxiety soo bad 😭😭

It wasn’t bad. Mine tastes like a melted popsicle. It did make me a little shaky and nausea but not bad. It’s to test if you have Gestational diabetes. It’s very important to know.

It’s not as thick or sugary as i expected. It reminded me of Gatorade or Pedialyte. I absolutely hate fruit punch and that what i ended up with 😏it was a little bottle and i finished in like 3 mins (they give you 5 mins to drink it all). Don’t be surprised or discouraged if you fail the 1 hr test- lots of women do and then pass the 3 hr! Good luck 😊

I got my bottle last week and I drink it next week. I hear it’s really gross 😭. My doctor said to make sure to drink it when it’s cold...I guess it makes it taste a little better.

Some women like it, others don’t. It’s easier to drink chilled.

I haven’t done it yet, but I do it at my next appointment. It’s basically a very sweet liquid (I’ve heard the orange one taste like extra sweet flat orange soda) and an hour after you drink it they draw your blood to test your blood glucose. If you “pass” the one hour it means your body is tolerating sugar as it should with your pregnancy. If you don’t pass the one hour you have to do a three hour test on a different day where they draw your blood after the first hour and then again after three hours and find out if your blood glucose is good in that time frame. Most people pass the three hour if they fail the one hour. But if you don’t pass the three hour they may make you keep track of your blood sugars and take insulin for the remainder of your pregnancy or they may just have you alter your diet.
