Group b strep test?!

I’m getting my strep test done at 36 weeks which will be in two weeks. I’m just wondering what it consists of and if anyone has had it come back positive how did they treat etc? I’m a FTM and am trying to learn what I can. Thank you!

Mine was negative but the doctor just swabs your vagina and your butt and that’s it. Very quick and simple.

They just lay you back and swab your vagina. If you’re positive they give antibiotics a certain amount of time before delivery to keep it from passing to baby

Like pp said it’s just a swab. No big deal. I was negative with my first but positive with my second. It just meant they gave me antibiotics through an IV before I gave birth.

In my experience, the nurse or OB will provide a q-tip type to swab just lightly in and around your bum-hole (possibly first your vagina also but my memory is vague on that).  They’ll then send the sample for testing to determine if your positive or negative for Group B Strep. 
Should your results come back positive, when you got into labour, they’ll provide antibiotics through an IV prior to delivery - I believe they have you come earlier in labour to ensure adequate time with the IV.

Mine was negative but I barely felt her doing it. No joke it was done in 1.5 seconds didn’t feel anything going in, nothing hurt or was uncomfortable. I worried for literally no reason

I had it with my first and not my second. They just give you antibiotics during labor so you don’t pass it to baby. My son was perfectly healthy.
