Hips hurt while sleeping
I’ve always been a side sleeper who occasionally sleeps on her stomach. I can’t fall asleep on my back at all.
So I figured I’d be mostly fine during pregnancy, since it’s recommended to sleep in your side. But around 10 weeks, I started getting tingly numb feelings on my hips when I sleep on my side. Now I’m thirteen weeks and when I lay on my side my hips either go numb or just ache.
I’ve been sleeping on my stomach propped up a little with a pillow under one side of my torso. (It makes a little gap for my belly). But I’m only barely showing and I’m pretty sure this is going to be too uncomfortable in a few weeks.
I tried sleeping with a pillow between my legs but that made it worse! Like having the top leg propped up just increased the pressure on the hip that was against the mattress. I’m skeptical of the pregnancy pillows because they work basically the same way. In all the photos, the weight is still carried on the one shoulder and hip.
I’m thinking about getting a piece of memory foam to put under my side of the bed to redistribute some of the pressure. (Our mattress is just two years old and I found it very comfortable before I got pregnant.)
