Hey everyone. 😁 Has anyone taken prenatals while trying to get pregnant or are pregnant? Could you recommend a good clean brand? Curious to see people’s thoughts on them and if they are necessary.

They are super important. You start before you start trying and continue throughout pregnancy. I won’t bother recommending brands as they are different to be US brands.

Folate (the natural form of folic acid) is the most important vitamin in prenatals and should be taken throughout your whole pregnancy, but it’s most important BEFORE getting pregnant and in the first trimester to prevent neural tube defects. I like organic, food-based prenatals because they’re more easily absorbed, and I also prefer taking fish oil (for DHA) separately from my prenatal to be sure that it’s a high quality fish oil from Norway. My favorite prenatal is Megafood Baby and Me 2.

Super super important, especially before conception and up until 12 weeks. Taking folic acid from 3 months before conception can reduce the risks for neural tube defects by as much as 70%. There's also studies which suggest taking it 3 months before conception can reduce the chances of miscarriage by up to 50%.
