What temp does your daycare send your child home?

Very curious as my daycare is having me pick up my son, who’s 9 months old, with a 100.7 fever. He’s teething so I’m sure that’s what’s causing it. And I thought it had to be 101 to get sent home.

Anything above 101 for us. Just happened last week! But he spiked due to teething.

I’m an early childhood educator and we send them home with a 100.4 temp or higher BUT they also should have other symptoms (because we know teething happens and causes fever but doesn’t prevent them from participating in school) so if they have a fever WITH diarrhea or vomiting, are too lethargic , are obviously not themselves... etc. that’s when we call to send them home. We can also administer Tylenol if the parents fill out a form for teething.

I used to work at a daycare center & I believe we looked it up in the licensing book one time & it said the center determines the temp they feel is necessary to go home. I could be wrong, but I think that’s what it said. Ours was 101+

100 or higher. honestly it’s inconvenient since it’s most likely teething, BUT daycare is a business and they have to make sure that they protect the other children/babies from illness. even if it just teething, it doesn’t really matter when taking into account all the other kiddos that are involved and could potentially get sick if you are wrong. i’d be more concerned if a daycare didn’t send kids home with a 100 degree fever honestly. you could look into hiring a nanny specifically for your child’s sick days when he can’t attend daycare.

Our daycare use to be 100 but recently moved it to 101 and they have to be fever free for 24 hours without medication to return.
