Forgetting rape

be

I was talking to a friend about Quinton Tarantino's new movie. I have not seen it yet, but we got on the topic of Roman Polanski and the rape of the 13 year old girl in 1977. I actually saw a clip from her court case in 2017 where she states that " it was not as traumatic as people are making it out to he". For the past 40 years this aa been a topic. In 1993 the women actually settled out of court. And Roman did plead guilty and spent 90 days in jail.. I was talking to my friend about all this, and she said "people forget pain and trauma over time."

I personally can see someone forgiving someone for doing something like that, but to forget it? I don't think so.

I told her trauma I faced in life I never forgot. I forgave them though and moved on.

She said she would ask me again in 20 or 40 years.. insisting the lady had decades to heal and get over the trauma.

What are your thoughts, Is rape forgettable ?
