Diva Cup - Advise?

Question

Does anyone use the diva cup? I started using it this cycle. It is definitely trail and error. Any tips/tricks to help with inserting so it doesn’t feel completely weird and uncomfortable. I never used tampons and I’m tired of pads. Any helps/advise would be greatly appreciated.

So this may be kind of gross, but I’ve been using a menstrual cup for about a year now so hopefully this helps. 
When you insert it, it’s always good to stick your finger up inside and run it around the cup to make sure that it’s fully forming a cup and is not caved in or anything. If it doesn’t form a full cup it won’t catch anything and it’ll just be messy.
And if you ever have trouble inserting it, here’s a good folding technique:

See how it’s already pre-caved in? That’s why you run your finger around the edge after inserting it around your urethra so that the edges make a suction-like feeling. 
And if you’re ever in a public restroom to change it out, it’s always good to bring a bottle of water or wet some paper towels to bring them in the stall with you. That way you’re not shoving a messy cup back up inside you and you’re keeping yourself clean. 
Hope this helps~ I love my menstrual cup (mine is called a Luna cup) and it’s saved me time and money. And you only have to buy a replacement every year or so.

Great advice on here, also know not all cups are created equal. I used a diva for 10years and after a few days of taking in and out I would get a little sore and it also made me have to pee much more frequently by pressing on my bladder.
I switched to a lena cup “sensitive” and it’s softer and a little smaller and it feels so much more comfortable.
Don’t be afraid to try a different brand, cut off the stem so you can’t feel it, etc...

I love mine when it works properly. I’ve had an issue where it doesn’t open and create the seal it should so I still leak. But when it works properly it’s awesome, it shortens my period. It’s never painful but it does shift a bit and I can feel it, but not more than a tampon. I want to try the new one from the flex company with the pull cord release, sounds so much better than fishing out that stumpy little stick but it’s a bit expensive. I use the c fold with the curve at the bottom and push it in and back/up. Once you’ve got it past the muscle ring it should open and slide up into position itself. Hope this helps.

I've been a big advocate for the diva cup ever since I started using it 6 years ago. That being said, it's going to be a bit awkward if you haven't used tampons because to insert the cup you REALLY have to get ALL UP IN THERE. You have to be very familiar and comfortable with your personal anatomy. 
I've always found that folding the cup opening into a C shape, lubing it with my saliva, and taking it slow and gentle helps. Hold it folded and push it as far as you can into your vagina before you let go. It'll "pop" open inside of you. From there you can grab the little tab on the bottom and wiggle it upward so that the ring at the top of the cup is nestled around your cervix. I always verify its positioned this way by doing a 360° sweep with my finger around the top edge of the cup, you'll be able to feel if your cervix is out or the cup is bent.
