How long do you do skin to skin after your baby is born ?

I don’t want to call family until they can actually hold her😂

No one is allowed to come to the birth center (my rules) until at least 6 hours after I give birth and THEN only if I’m awake.  I want skin to skin, time to nurse, time to bleed and clean up.  SO isn’t happy because his sisters want to be there DURING LABOR and see baby immediately after birth.  Not happening.  I hate knowing people are waiting on me.  I told him when he pushes a child out of his vagina and bleeds everywhere, then he can have a say about when family is allowed to show up 😂

For my first son, I did an hour then my husband did an hour. We will be doing that again!

When I had my son, we didn’t let anyone see him for 2 hours. We took turns doing skin-to-skin and I also nursed him.

With all the commotion it’s usually a few hours of me holding them. I do skin to skin, Daddy gets a turn, my mom has a turn (she’s my coach so she’s always there), then it’s time to nurse (usually the first feed is a good hour long). Then I like to cuddle/bond. 
I’d say plan on at least several hours so you can come down off the adrenaline rush, clean up, have some food, nap, etc before visitors. I’ve been lucky that my babies have come late evening, so visitors come the next day. Most everyone I know gives mom a full day to recoup unless super close family.

The hospital I deliver at has a thing called "the golden hour" so an hr we do skin to skin with no interruptions.

After birth my partner and I will each get an hour of skin to skin before visitors. Otherwise skin to skin is beneficial allllll the time for everyone 💕 It releases oxytocin- the happy love hormone. My partner and I made sure to get some everyday when we were trying to conceive.

Uh, I'll go ahead and retype this. You dont have to skin to skin 24/7. Family can hold your child whenever you are ready for then to. I skin to skinned for the first 2 weeks, and obviously let my others hold him.
