Do you have a social life in grad school/general advice

Hi, if any one of you are pursuing or have Master Degrees, can you share your experience? The good, bad, and ugly.
Did you have time for a social life? How did you manage time?

HAHAHAHAHA no. 😂 but my situation is a bit different. I work full time and go to school full time and I also have a toddler! So my typical week is work 730-430, class Tues and Thurs 5pm-8ish pm (occasionally a 730-10pm class), go home and eat and put my kiddo to bed, work on homework or relax. I recently went on vacation and spent the whole car trip there finishing my finals for my summer classes. But it’s a short program and I have 2 semesters left so it’s all good. My advice is to have good time management and advocate for yourself! As for social life, just surround yourself with people who support you and understand if you have to cancel plans. Pencil in time when you can! I had dessert with my best friend at 830 at night the other night because it was the only time we had! But you make it work!!

i'm not in grad yet, but one of my mentors just finished. he also had a full-time job while also going to school full-time (he's nuts, i know). but he taught me a lot about time management. one of the best lessons was that people never have time for what they WANT, but will make time for what they need. he reserved at least one day to spend with his gf or friends, or if he was slammed he'd try to find a way to include people in his life. he was also big on stress management lol.

My boyfriend and I have a friend group. We all try to get together as much as possible. Used to be every weekend, but March of this year, everyone became unavailable and we’ve only seen each other twice. We’re currently trying to plan a trip camping or something since it’s summer

Im a medical student and I have. Some weeks are see my friends/dates less or not at all, but its manageable mostly. It takes time management and comprehension from your friends.

I don’t feel grad school affected my social life too much. The class hours weren’t too intense and I had time during the week and weekend to do my readings, papers, presentations and then in the evenings (at least the weekends) I had time to see friends
