Blu's Story!
Blu came from a woman and her husband who were illegally breeding their German Shepard and siberian husky.
Blu is one of 6 puppies that was rescued as well as her mom and dad.
The people that ended up with her at just a month old adopted her and were angry to find that puppies don't come potty trained (don't even get me started!)
Her origional owners got angry that she was ruining their carpet and beat her constantly. She was abused for a few weeks and then brought back to the shelter. It took almost 2 months for them to get her healthy and rehabilitated.
I had just got approved on my first apt. And was only 19. My now soon to be husband was also 19. I had always had a dog growing up. We went to the dog shelter 4 days before we were suppose to move in to our first apartment and first time living together! We went for 3 days straight everyday. I love all animals but none of them felt right (even though i would have taken them all home if possible.) I was dead set however on finding a connesction where not only I but the dog was also happy. Origionally my fiance ended up falling in love with her. I agreed because they had aninstant bond. We ended up paying for her together and she stayed with me while we were moving. She got very clingy to him (at this point 4 months old) but she had a hard time with everything. Potty training was not even a light in the dark, she was so destructive. At some points I wanted to take her back, but i was set on figuring it out. One night she pulled up half of our apartments carpet while we were gone for only 15 min. I thought this was it she wouldn't be trainable. We took her to the vet tried everything crating, dog sitters, doggy day cares! Nothing worked finally the vet's did some testing. Blu is a special needs puppy. Her mental capacity at 4 months old was that of a ten week old. She'd been veaten badly enough and so had her momma that she didn't develop the eay she should have. They told me I couls try to train her but she was untrainable or I could put her down. Then one day she stopped ripping. Up the house because I was coming home earlier from work. So i decided to take a break from working to help teach her. She finally learned with a lot of help to go potty outside and she even became more social. Now she is glued to my hip. She is my travel buddy and in taking care of and teaching her i learned so much about me. I am a stay at home dog mom for my special girl. She is perfect and beautiful and now she's clingy to me. I could have never chosen a better dog. I love her with all my might. I've been told staying home when you don't have kids at a young age and almost wife isn't wise. I've been told the dog doesn't need as much as I think she does! But she couldn't be happier these days and she is a lot of work. More then most dogs, however I wouldn't trade her for the world
.
She is now a year old and thriving. I laughed in the vets face that told me she was untarinable and better off put to sleep. Because now sge is finally safe and happy. And someone is finally able to take the time with her to teach her. Her favorite things to do are as follows:
1.) Get lots of attention
2.) Follow me to the bathroom
3.) Dog park
4.) Hikes
5.) Swimming
6.) And probably the most important actually cuddle with her head on a pillow covered up.
She's taught me a lot about myself. And even helped me to do more outside of the house. We are avid exersise buddies.
