Frida Kahlo tattoo: cultural appropriation?
For years, I’ve wanted my first tattoo to be Frida Kahlo. As a feminist and someone who appreciates body positivity, I have grown to love and cherish what Kahlo stood for. However, I have read blogs about Kahlo not being a “decoration” for white women, and I’m a WW. If I would get a tattoo of her— would that be “appreciation” or “appropriation”. I understand all aspects Kahlo stood for, including politically and am not just wanting the tattoo for the aesthetic, rather because of how bold and powerful she was. Thanks for your help.
