Contractions? First time mom!

I’m 36 weeks pregnant and the past couple days I’ve had these random sharp pains in my lower vagina. It feels like my vagina and stomach get really tight then it release. The longest one has been around a min. But I’ve never had more than 3 in a row. What are these? I’m a first time mom so idk what contractions are lol

I’ve often been wondering too! My whole belly will go hard for like 20 seconds, and sometimes it can make me feel a bit breathless. I thought maybe it was baby leaning against the front but maybe they’re Braxton Hicks?

You’ll feel contractions in more than just your vagina. It’s your whole uterus and muscles around it tightening so you’ll feel it all over your abdomen. 
Maybe it was just a baby kick in a certain spot? I wouldn’t worry but just mention it to your dr at your next scheduled appointment.
