Have any of you refused tests?

I refused all genetic testing. 
At the beginning of my pregnancy I was 5 weeks and I did a full blood panel, a full drug and alcohol screen and a full STD/HIV screen. It's now time to do my glucose and I'm 27+4. I looked online at the labs that were ordered. I'm refusing the second STD screen as I know I'm still 100% clean. I'm also refusing the second blood and urine drug test as I feel it's not necessary, I'm not a criminal and this is not probation, I am pregnant and don't see a reason to consent to this. I will however consent to the glucose test and only that. What bothers me is the way we are treated. My doctor told me I was getting a glucose. If I hadn't looked at my chart online I wouldn't have known they were going to draw for so many things as she lied and said it was a glucose screen ONLY. Now, am I on drugs? No. But that doesn't mean I should happily consent to two different types of drug testing. I think it's important to remember our rights and that we don't have to do every prick of the finger and draw from the vein that they want. It's your body and it's your baby. Hell, I could also refuse the glucose if I wanted to. I just want to remind all moms, especially young mothers that you do have rights and you should never feel uncomfortable or afraid of your provider. These people essentially work for you. You can "fire" them at any time. ♥️
This also isn't a debate, for those who gladly consent to all testing and don't care what they're tested for that is fine too!

Lol I was laughing reading this. I mean hey, I’m all for standing up for what you believe in, but what is the purpose of turning down these tests? Just to say you can and that you have rights? I honestly don’t see the point when it could benefit your baby and is not harming you.

Many of them are mandated by various state laws to ensure the health and welfare of the baby.

Hmmm... to each their own, I guess? I have NO problem being tested for whatever they want! I want my baby to be safe and sound, and I’m happy that my doctor wants the same thing! So test away!!

Yup. I'm planning to refuse cervical checks when they start wanting to do those. Dilation and effacement to have to happen before the baby is born, but whether they start happening before labor or not really doesn't mean anything. I've known women who spend 2 weeks thinking they're going to go into labor any second because their doctor told them they're dilated to a 4, and therefore close. All while others lose hope and agree to unnecessary indications because they're only 1 cm dilated, so they're told the baby won't be coming soon, only for the woman to start labor that night. 
The way I see it, they really don't even need to check during labor. My body knows what it is doing. I know I'll have to let them when labor starts, but I can live with that. Just not leading up to it. It's pointless, and invasive.

Thank you for this! More women need to hear this. Pregnancy is such a beautiful natural process. Nothing is REQUIRED. Of course certain testing can make you more aware/prepared of certain things going on. But ultimately your body is going to take care of the process. Its sad how many women feel pressured or intimidated into getting unnecessary tests/shots/medications. Doctors are wonderful, but you don’t need to bow down and forget about your rights.

I literally only do the first bloodwork, the 20wk ultrasound and the glucose screen. End of story. I have my blood pressure checked at every appt. Over testing causes needless worry in my experience. I have had a pregnancy full of tests and fear and traded it for 3 hands off pregnancies and preferred them by far. Nothing has ever gone wrong (even in the very medical pregnancy-yet they told me umteen things were “possibly” wrong) and my deliveries have been amazing.

Yes I denied a couple. Didn't do the glucose either because I never had any issues with my previous pregnacies and there were no signs whatsoever that I would eb at risk this pregnacy. Midwife and I decided to test if there are signs that might indicate a possible issue with glucose.

We refused the genetic testing because we are both young and healthy, and have no risk factors that run in either of our families. I did the full blood panel at the beginning of both pregnancies as well as whatever they ordered with the glucose test. My reasoning was they're already taking the blood, so why not. Now if it would be an extra blood draw, I would refuse that.

The only test I declined was genetic testing. I don't mind the other urine and blood tests. But if it's something you feel strongly about, I hope you have a practitioner that will work with you.

I've heard horror stories of false positive STD tests in pregnant women. They test+ and husband-. Ruining relationships I'm sure.
