Fluoride???

Question

My pediatrician gave us a prescription for fluoride because there isn’t any in our town water....anyone ever heard of this or know about it? Starting flouride at 6 mos.??

Dental hygienist here and I highly recommend this if your town doesn’t have fluoride in the water. This prescription is actually helping their permanent adult teeth that are starting to already develop...yes you heard me right at 6 months of age their front adult teeth are already developing! The fluoride you get in office (whether that be in doctors or dentists) is treatment for the teeth that are in the mouth. It helps prevent cavities whereas the prescription is helping with enamel formation of adult teeth.

I see this, and I call BS. When I was a kid they did fluoride clinics because they are supposed to be great to do concentrated session of fluoride. Now they know that just weakened our enamel. BS. My son won’t be getting fluoride treatments except as he does passively through our two water which I would avoid if I could.

We're on rain water and have never had fluoride prescribed. We just brush their teeth everyday 🤷‍♀️

Yes I've heard they do this now as not all water has it depending on your area, so when babies get teeth they prescribe or refer you to a dentist for it! It gives baby something ridiculous like 1000x more protection from decay and things like that seeing as it's so easy for kids to knacker their teeth from sugar and milk 
We don't have it in our area so my son will most likely get it aswell
