Spouse Can't Catch The Baby?

Question

Has anyone asked their OB if their spouse can catch the baby, and their OB said no?
Just curious.. I will be asking my OB tomorrow to see what she says. Assuming that everything in the room would be rolling smoothly when it comes time.
Edit: My OB gave my husband and I the okay. 👌Just ask your Dr if that's an option for you.

If you’re in the US, I’m going to say the answer will probably be no, but I don’t know from experience. My guess, is that they wild offer it, if it was an option. I think there are a lot of things that can potentially go wrong, and the doctor will insist on being the first to handle the baby. However, I don’t actually know. I’d be curious to know what she/he says.

I know some OB's let people catch and others don't. Like my OB won't let anyone catch my baby except him or his wife.

My husband actually delivered put second (hes an emt) But he helped with our first too. The doctor stands right there, not like she goes and takes a smoke break

My son came out like a bullet with a huge gush of blood and water. I'd also shit a few minutes beforehand. Even if he could my partner wouldn't have caught him 🤣 even the doctor leapt backwards to avoid the worst of the gush 🤣🤣🤣

they asked my husband if he wanted to hold me leg or help deliver for two of my kids. were are in the US

Somewhere along the line someone's husband didn't catch the baby and a hospital got sued. Sue happy people ruin very thing.
