Is it too soon to tell?
I have been dating my boyfriend for a month but have known him for 3 years. When u date someone you get to know them better obviously.
Well, I am mixed but my skin is white. I have big lips and curly hair, pretty much the only things that would make you think I was mixed. But my boyfriend is white.
I was a little worried at first because I have never dated a white guy before, I just always felt comfortable dating guys who were not white because they understand what it feels like to me a minority and usually have the same ideals as me lol.
Lately weird stuff has been happening like I had just parked and a group of black men got out of their vehicle and my boyfriend said "I hope our stuff doesn't get stolen" and I was like ... 🤔.. so I gave him benefit of the doubt and assumed he said that because of the area we were in.
But more and more stuff like that keeps happening. He didn't want to let a black guy into the movie theater we were in (after a certain time the doors lock on the back entrance so someone has to open the door from the inside) so I did cause he didn't look like a threat and the black guy walked in and said thanks and met up with his family. My boyfriend kept watching him suspiciously. He is nervous about meeting my dad (he's black) which I understand but now I am nervous too lol.
Those are just a few examples, but do u think that's a good enough reason to not continue the relationship? Or should I talk to him about it and try to work it out? He just doesn't get that minorities have to try harder in life and thinks it's fake. He also has said some odd comments about women and it's just so weird to me I have never come across someone who actually said this stuff. He says the work retarded a lot and idk...
I know everyone is saying our society has become too soft and are offended by everything, so I don't want to over react. But I just have never been in a situation like this.
