We’re sponge bathing every couple days and daily little neck and face washes to keep him clean until his umbilical cord falls off.

My doctor said "not every often, a couple times a week would be fine". So I would say every 3-4 days unless baby gets super messy from a blowout or getting sick or mom's lanolin nipple salve getting all over them 😉 but that can be "spot cleaned", usually.
