You did what with your placenta?

So I got messaged this on Instagram. Definitely not for me plus I read there are health risks.
I’d never heard of placenta pills before this. Just me who thinks this is crazy? Not so much the pills but the boiling and flavours 😂

I find this "eating the placenta" trend quite disturbing. The placenta has done its job once you give birth, you don't need to consume it - There's a reason your body expels it. I think all these encapsulation placenta companies are just trying to make a quick buck off of this trend. New moms spend a ton of money on unnecessary things because they are trying to do what's best for their baby, and companies often prey on that vulnerability. I think women that claim it helped them are experiencing a placebo effect. I doubt a processed placenta, turned into a pill is actually helping anyone.

Okay so people can do whatever they want with the placenta, but is anyone else creeped out that a complete stranger messaged you about what to do with your placenta after birth? When did this become socially acceptable?

I've  heard of encapsulation,  never  about added flavors (whats the point, they arent chewables )  But to each their own.  I didnt do it for either  birth,  and I was perfectly  fine... I think  its a gimmick

I wouldnt eat a dead organ full of the toxic crap it filtered from reaching my baby. Theres no benefit to it.
