How soon did you have sex after delivery if you had stitches?

My husband wants to try sex but my doctor cut me and I got stitches on the inside. Curious to how long others have waited for sex?!

When you give birth you'll have a huge open wound inside your uterus. You should not have any sex before 6 weeks and only after you've been cleared by a Dr or you could risk an infection.

My husband and I waited like 3 or 4 months, but I knew he could still do everything normally so when we could there was this...lol. This was also more practical when adjusting to life with another kid or newborn. It's totally worth it to wait. Especially if you have stitches!

I waited 7 weeks and had already been cleared by my doc. And it hurt alot still. 
Definitely don't do it unless you've been cleared or you're risking infection.

Doctors recommend 6 weeks at the very least. You need time to heal and your cervix needs to fully close up. If you have sex because 6 weeks have passed, you’re risking bacterial infection big time. Plus I’m sure it would still hurt.

Both times I got cleared at 6w pp but hubby always made us wait til
8-9weeks as he claims “for extra assurance” 
I know 2 people who had sex before 6 weeks and their vaginas are just not the same. They are pretty messed up

Once doc cleared me. It’s not just the stitches you have to worry about, it’s the healing inside you need to worry about.

You’re not supposed to have sex before 6 weeks at all.. so 6 weeks at the soonest. Maybe even longer depending on what you feel comfortable with since you had stitches. I had stitches also and didn’t have sex til maybe 8 weeks after.
