Ferberizing

**Not asking for opinions on sleep training. We are doing it and frankly don’t care what you think.***

We are using a very loose Ferber method with our daughter. We have done it 3 nights now and I am up to checking her every 5 minutes (like I said, it’s very loose ha). Last night she went to sleep within 5 minutes of being laid in bed and she didn’t cry or fuss at all! She woke up about 45 mins later and self-soothed to sleep with no tears. At midnight it got more difficult. I was able to just stick my arm in her bed and let her feel me to console her, after letting her cry a bit. At 3:00 she woke again and was crying. After 5 minutes I couldn’t handle it, and she ended up in bed with me.

She had gas and she is used to eating at 2:30. So I caved.

For those of you who have sleep trained, what are your suggestions? How do you get past the nighttime crying? (It sounds much sadder). Also, I know I shouldn’t be feeding her at night while sleep training according to the book, but I am waiting until tomorrow when we talk to the doctor about it. Is it possible to sleep train but still have nighttime feedings? I don’t mind that she wakes up to eat twice. I just want her to sleep in her bed and put herself to sleep. If I am not allowing her to comfort nurse, and only letting her eat when hungry, am I not providing a crutch?

Baby is almost 5 months.
