Unexpected complications 😬

Chloe

First time mom

Sorry for the long post

I went in last Friday for my weekly pregnancy checkup. I was really hoping they'd tell me I was dilated because I was now 41 weeks. But they said no, not dilated, nothing is happening yet. But they did send me across the street to the hospital for a routine non stress test because I was over due. The nurse strapped the bands on me and monitored my baby for 30 minutes, everything looked good and healthy so she said just go down stairs to check the amniotic fluid and you can go home. So I did and they check the fluid but the the nurse started getting other nurses. I could tell they were worried even though they had these smiles their faces. They told me they are going to have to admit me because I have no amniotic fluid, 0.00. They said they have to get the baby out now. I was terrified but also kind of excited I'd get to meet my baby soon. They were having difficulty getting labor started because I was having no contractions and was not dilated. They gave me a pill to soften my cervix and after 4 or 5 hours it finally got me dilated to a 2 so they started the pitocin. My blood pressure was starting to drop and so was her heart rate so they told me that they would monitor her a little longer and if things don't change they are going to have to do an emergency contact section. About 2 minutes later the doctors and nurses all come running in and within 5 minutes I was being moved to the operation room. It was the scariest thing I've ever experienced and all I could think about is if my baby was going to be okay. And sure enough they showed me this little baby girl with her eyes wide open and tongue sticking out. Born 8-10-19. I can't even describe the emotions I felt. She was 4lbs 15 oz but passed all the tests with flying colors. She is so healthy and strong even for a new born, let alone an underweight newborn. Doctors said if I waited any longer I wouldn't have had a baby and they were shocked I kept her okay inside for so long without any fluid. They said my placenta stopped doing its job and in the last month, instead of my little girl gaining weight she was losing it. But not once did she let me know anything was wrong. Her movement stayed consistent and everything seemed perfectly fine.
