So i am 21, married, ttc and i have PCOS. I just began seeing a new OB in April this year, just wanted a second opinion on treating my PCOS. My last period was in March 2019. I went to this doctor and for my first appointment we just talked about my PCOS and the plan on getting my periods back on track so i can begin trying to get pregnant by tracking my cycle, he asked me to wait a couple weeks and then come back when i start my period. April 28 still nothing so i call and go back to see this doctor.

At this appointment they got a urine sample and claimed they tested my urine and i wasn't pregnant (which was expected because my PCOS). So he gave me a prescription for Provera 10mg for 10 days, and that my period should start three days after. Fast forward three days after taking the pills and still nothing! I called my doc and they said "wait another week". A week came and went. May 17th i took a test because i just had a feeling and it turns out i was pregnant.

I make an appointment and this time i see his Physician Assistant who performs an ultrasound to see how far along we are. First of all she told me my due date based off of my last period (March 14th 2019) and that my due date was in the beginning of December / end of November 2019. I told her no, i have PCOS so my period cannot be accurate for the due date. She insisted i was 10 weeks anyway and proceeded to do an ultrasound. We were only able to see a gestational sac, no heartbeat no fetal pole. So she then tells me to prepare myself because im going to miscarry, she made me believe that i would loose my baby from the Provera and that we should definitely hear a heartbeat at 10 weeks (even tho i wasn't actually ten weeks pregnant). She said I probably wouldnt even heart his heartbeat but gave me a picture of the ultrasound in case of a "miracle". Those are the worst words to hear especially from a doctor, i couldn't believe how cold she was. I left there crying and immediately went back to my old OB. We made an appointment for the week after that horrible appointment. We did an ultrasound and confirmed i was 6 weeks and there was now a heartbeat. Im currently being followed by a genetic specialist to make sure the Provera did not cause any birth defects.

I am now 18 weeks today and i wanted to spread awareness about what happened to me. Not only did i get pregnant without having a period, but it is so important to have a caring doctor. And it is soooo important to trust your intuition. I really thought that i was going to loose my baby. I now have my anatomy scan next week so fingers crossed for my healthy baby boy 🤞🏼
