No, absolutely not. My great niece has a speech delay and will be 4 next month. Even though we suspected autism, she was diagnosed with apraxia of speech. She is in speech therapy twice a week and it has gotten so much better and talking so much more. If your little one isn’t in speech therapy or has not been evaluated yet do it now. The earlier the better.

My niece was speech delayed and it ended up being dyslexia. There are many reasons that cause speech delays, it doesn't necessarily point towards autism.

I have multiple family members on my dads side who dealt with delayed speech or speech impediments and none of them are autistic. They are all now fully functioning normal adults. In fact 2 of them are registered genius’s.

My daughter had a severe speech delay. Wasnt until 1st grade before people could understand her. She had a tongue tie that no one spotted until she was 5 and she had a new speech therapist. After that she got a lot better because they knew specifically how to help her. She had speech therapy before, but they were no help at all. Transferred her to a new school just because her new speech therapist said they had the best speech therapy within a school in our area
