Do your babies fight you when trying to brush teeth?

Question

What do you use to brush your babies teeth and how? My son arches, screams and clenched his jaw shut. My doctor told us to start wiping his gums with a wet rag each night when he started solids but once he gets a tooth to use one of those silicon finger brushes with water. He refuses it! What do you use and do you use toothpaste yet?

Mine loves brushing his teeth I just give him the tooth brush let him chew the bristles and do it himself

For us it was a huge fight but lately I have been playing brushing songs on TV when it’s time to brush both morning and night and since his sister also brushes, he’s been wanting to brush. I also grab a second tooth brush and brush while he’s distracted. It’s been working so far!

Nope. She brushes her teeth then I brush her teeth, then she does again while I brush mine

Mine hated brushing till we started using fluoride free toothpaste and now she lets us put the Brush in her mouth but she’ll also let us brush the teeth. Once I do my part I always let her play with it to make sure if stays enjoyable and fun

I’m not pushing it too much. I know that’s probably wrong, but I’m choosing to ease into it so we don’t have that fight. Even though she has 8 teeth now, she just doesn’t understand it at all so I can’t even imagine adding in a toothpaste. She has a little cactus teether thing and the main nub is a toothbrush and I have a little silicone finger brush. We have a little song we sing trying to get her excited about it and can manage a couple strokes, just on the fronts of her teeth just dry brushing.

I hold my kids over the sink and as the smile at the reflection on the mirror l brush their teeth and then I stick my tongue out and they do the same and i brush their tongue too.if they get distracted (because it happens) i tap the mirror.

We use the finger brush and just make lots of noises and she tries to bite it but I'm looking at ordering one with a handle for her to chew on herself

I just give my.daugther her toothbrush with her toothpaste on it. 
She absolutely refuses for me to do it. It's not perfect, but her chewing on it and moving it around gets the job done.

I'm in the UK and I was told to start brushing my sons gums just before his first tooth cut through to get used to the feeling of a toothbrush ect.
His first tooth cut through at 4 months so I started brushing his teeth with water, he loved it.
At 6 months we started using toothpaste, he loved it.
Past 2/3 months? He absolutely refuses! The health visitor told me 'I need to show him I'm in charge and just brush them' - yeah if only it was that easy when his mouth will physically not open, his lips are shut so tightly, there isnt a chance I could get a tooth brush in there with him smacking it out the way, turning his head, screaming and crying and arching his back. And when he cries and his mouth opens due to that, no I wont take advantage.. because i dont want him to relate brushing his teeth as a bad thing and that mummy only brushes his teeth when he cries because that's the only opportunity to?
I've tried making it fun, singing songs and everything else.
At the minute I've been letting him watch me brush my teeth in the bathroom and I'll give him his toothbrush with some toothpaste on and let him do his own thing with it. At first he would just watch me, then he would hold his toothbrush and now hes starting to copy me. I'll let him do that for a while then I'll attempt to start trying myself to brush his teeth. If no luck I'll just ask the dentist for advice.
