Does induction cause fetal distress? Is it dangerous for babe?

I've been offered induction at 38 weeks due to mental health reasons but I'm  unsure whether to accept it.

Every woman and baby is different.
My son didn’t like the induction meds. He was fine, but his HR kept increasing due to the forced back to back contractions. If I can, I’ll avoid it til last resort next time.

Sometimes it is medically necessary, so you should definitely weigh the pros and cons with your doctor about what is best for you specific situation with you and your baby. However, women should recieve more education than we do about the fact that forced inductions are harder on both you and the baby, and often lead to long/difficult labors with a higher result of ending in C-section. There are situations when an induction is necessary for mother and/or baby, but they should be done based on need rather than convenience. Only you and your doctor can decide what is best for you.

It absolutely can. 
I’ve needed pitocin in both my labors. 
My first, I stalled after 12 hours and needed it to progress once baby showed she was in distress.
My second, I was induced at 41w because she failed her NST and we had no distress whatsoever. 
Even as someone who knows the merit and necessity of medication in labor, it should be used to AID labor and not force it upon your body, unless it’s completely medically necessary to save mother or child. 
Why your doctor has chosen induction so early should be discussed and decided upon together. If you need a second opinion, get one from another OBGYN. I’m not sure what your mental health concerns are, but make 100% sure that it’s in the best interest of baby to be induced early before it happens. You CAN refuse an induction, especially one that’s before medically necessary (which is typically at 41w6d)

I've been induced with 2 out of 5 of mine.. waters broke early stopped labour but few days later babies decided they weren't going to move.. heart rate was fine and babys seemed happy just next to no movement from them for over 24 hours so decided that it was time to kick start labour again so was induced via medication & both times mine where very distressed and heart rate dropped rapidly thankfully I was over 7 cm both times so they allowed me to try and push before moving onto c-section and both delivered with minutes of first push but very painful 😪 with my 3rd I went in for normal check up & they found he had been in the birthing canal for quite some time at least a week.. his heart rate totally dropped out in the room for no reason at all.. they broke my water in seconds and he was born less than 27 minutes later.. said I would of delivered earlier that week if he hadn't getting stuck so I do believe it can happen anytime just depends on the baby.. I point blank refused induction this time unless there is no other choice but even then weve decided c-section & no induction as my doctors say my body goes into over drive & I was having 15 contractions every 10 minutes first time & 23 every 10 minutes the second time according to my consultant... so personally I think its something you should discuss with your doctor about pros & cons.. good luck xx

I've had 4 attempted inductions  (4 kids, all medically necessary). 2 were successful. They were pretty calm as soon as they were born, so I don't think it was any more disressing than a regular birth. One went into distress and it was a c section. But who knows, babies can go into distress with a natural birth as well....so maybe it was the pitocin, or maybe not. Could have been because I had preeclampsia.  4th never progressed. If you're more progressed going in, the higher chances of success.

I am not sure. I was induced, my girl was in distress, my sister wasn’t induced and her boy went in distress, hard to say. Anything can occur during labour, induced or not 🤷‍♀️

I'm mine and both my daughter's case it didn't. Both of them did fine and no distress. Both were born perfect and healthy! 
But every woman and every baby is different. 99 woman and babies can do great and 1 could not.
