How do you all like your substitute teacher job?

I’m applying to a substitute teacher job and want to hear what you all like about your job. I only want to work with middle and high school students

My dad did this after he retired. He liked the flexible hours. He gets an automated call a sub is needed and he can say yes or no. I know long term substitute jobs are options, so might not be as flexible

I’ve been a substitute teacher for years!  I must admit it’s mostly because teaching jobs are hard to come by where I’m from but there are definitely benefits to being a sub.  No report cards, bringing work home with you, staying late,  and dealing with parents. If I have a terrible day I never have to go back to that class and of course the flexibility you have to not work if you don’t want to.
 But, my pay is about half of what I would make as a teacher and in the past when I’ve had that classroom of my own I have enjoyed planning things, getting to know my students, and watching them progress.
