Am I ’transphobic’? *READ DESCRIPTION*
So, over the last few years the LGBTQ+ community has come a long way! There’s been a lot of good happening & a lot of bad things happening...
I am a cis-woman. I am straight; I’m married to a cis-male who is straight, we have a daughter & another baby on the way.
I don’t understand some of the more recent events that have happened in the LGBTQ+ community.
How can you not have a gender? You’re either a boy or a girl. If you’re born a boy, but feel like you’re a girl, I will support your transition. If you’re born a girl, but you feel like you’re a boy, I will support your transition. I don’t have an issue with trans people. I think it’s so amazing to want to be your absolute authentic self.
But I don’t understand how some people identify as non-binary. I don’t hate people for it, I just don’t see how there’s more than just a boy & a girl.
I have a friend who identifies as non-binary. Now, we’ve been friends since middle school. I tried asking them to explain how there’s more than just being a boy or a girl to me & they said I was being transphobic.
Help.
I generally do not understand. I don’t know enough about the whole situation in order to form an opinion.
Either if I understand it or not, if you identify as non-binary I don‘t hate you. That’s your life, you have to live it how you want & its none of my business.
If you’re gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, asexual, trans, etc I don’t hate you. So I don’t understand why I was called transphobic for asking someone to help me understand.
