Birth of Our Rainbow Baby
I loved reading these while pregnant and now it’s finally my turn to tell mine. (LONG STORY)
Ever since I had turned 34 weeks my regular ob appointments ended up being a trip to L & D due to high blood pressure. I was there every other week 🤦♀️ by that time I was so done with being pregnant! On 8/19/19 around 10 pm I noticed baby wasn’t as active as usual me & husband decided to go to L & D to make sure everything was ok. I get there at 11pm they hook me on to the monitors baby was doing perfect as can be only problem was my bp was 178/98! They ran tests and I was diagnosed with severe preeclampsia They called my ob and he decided to admit me & get induced mind you I was 37 weeks & 2 days. Me & husband were so shocked and couldn’t believe baby was coming! . 8/20/19 They put us in our room and they started me off with a pill that would make start contractions, mind you I was 0cm dilated & baby was still far high up. Pill got contractions going nothing unbearable, they checked me later that morning & I was at a 1 cm baby still far up . On top of that I was put on magnesium which meant I had to be on bed rest & had a catheter put on me which was soooo uncomfortable!! Then Dr decided to put a pill in my cervix that would make me contract , did the same thing as the first one but contractions were stronger but would end up dying down after a couple hrs I was up all night with 0 sleep took naps here & there with contractions but it was uncomfortable. I made it to 2cm!
8/21/19 he decided to come in and break my water & start me on pitocin to get things going. Immediately after he broke my water contractions sure did pick up. I asked for epidural before being put on pitocin because I’ve heard of how painful contractions are with pitocin. Epidural was a life saver for about 4 hrs & then it started wearing off on my right side & started feeling so much pressure with a contraction on my right lower back it was the worst! They checked to see how much I’ve dilated & I was at only a 4!! Hours passed & no pregress was being made just contractions & pressure were getting worse. Dr came in at around 10 pm to let me know if I didn’t make it to atleast a 6 by morning I’d be getting a c section. I was so disappointed bc I never really had a birth plan in my mind bc I knew anything could but a c section was sure the last thing on my mind I was terrified! Around 12 am I really started feeling that pressure when you need to poop and that right lower back contraction was getting unbearable I asked to be checked & I had open up to 6cm! Woohoo no c section for me! Around 1 am was when everything started getting really unbearable, pain & pressure! I ask to be checked again & yes I was at 10 fully effaced & baby had dropped down! They said they’d get things ready to start some practice pushing while my ob would get there . So we started doing some pushing & baby’s head was already crowning after about 5 pushes she told me to stop & we needed to wait for my dr. I told her I couldn’t and that I needed to push NOW! she said just breath my dr arrived about 10 mins later by that time I was yelling I couldn’t hold it anymore and that I was going to push! And my body started doing it on its own dr said ok start pushing about 5 mins later She was out! Best feeling in the world!! No tearing 🙏🏼 Things got a little crazy after that my bp sky rocketed to 216/105 I started to hemorrhage a little bit so I received a shot to make it stop. Finally everything was under control thankfully me & my daughter we’re both safe. She’s beautiful & healthy as can be. After 3 child loses it was an amazing experience finally meeting one of mine. It was a crazy unexpected birth but I’d do it all over again. I am crazy in love with her words can’t describe all the emotions I’ve been feeling. So excited to finally take her home tomorrow❤️ if you’ve made it this far hope you enjoyed my birth story!
