Can your period return when you’re still spotting lochia?

So I’m just over 5 weeks postpartum..I’ve stopped bleeding but have been having sort of rusty brown very light spotting off and on for the last couple weeks.

For the last few days I’ve been randomly getting menstrual-like cramps and this morning I’ve almost cried 4 different times over little things (its only 11am) and have just been more emotional in general..

Could this mean my period is returning or can it not come back until the lochia/spotting has 100% stopped?
