Elective inductions?

So I have a couple of reasons I want to be induced at 39 weeks but I haven’t brought it up to my OB yet. My question is can an OB deny you an induction?

Depends on the doc. For mine they won’t induce FTM unless necessary. But for veteran moms they do elective starting at 39, but even then they need to have a solid reason to why you are doing, they won’t do it because you are “tired of being pregnant or feeling crappy”... I’m getting an elective one done but if I didn’t I would be in labor with a toddler by myself and have no one to watch him while I give birth. The elective induction allows my husband to be there and for family to take solid days off to watch my son (they live 800 miles away and husband is supposed to be underway during my due date time)

My doctor told me anytime after 39 weeks and as long as my cervix was softening. I assume there’s more complications if they try to induce you and your cervix isn’t “ripening.” 🤷‍♀️

In my experience no I didnt really need a valid reason and I've had 4 inductions and having another at 39 weeks exactly if she doesnt come before then. I have my babies to fast and that's why I'd rather start labor at the hospital BUT for one of my doctors for one of my boys I did tell him I was officially fed up with being pregnant but he did it at 39 plus 5 so I was pretty much 40 weeks anyways... good luck just ask and give your reasons they most likely will agree

Yes they can. But at 39w it's not likely.  Sometimes the hospital will put you off if you're an elective induction due to staffing and other high priority patients. Doesn't hurt to ask. But know that after 39w you're baby is still undergoing lots of brain development and fat storage to thrive outside the womb. Every day counts. Try to catch up on your rest until baby arrives, naturally  or induced.
