Conceiving after Miscarriage

I'm currently in the process of a miscarriage, I would have been 9 weeks along with my first pregnancy. I had a blighted ovum so nothing ever developed inside the sac. My doctor said we could try again after one normal cycle. My question is what happens if you get pregnant between when you stop bleeding from miscarriage and when your period starts? From what I've heard you become fertile in this time but I'm curious about what the risks are and what would/could happen.
