How long do you think maternity leave should be?

In Norway we get to choose either 49weeks with 100% of your normal paycheck, or 59weeks with 80% of your normal paycheck. Regardless if you work as a carpenter, nurse, doctor, as long as you pay your taxes. Maternity leave with payment shouldn't be a goodwill from your employer.

I couldn't fathom it being less than a year, ours just got extended so you can take 18 months and you bet I'm taking full advantage of being home with this little one for 18 months

I think over a year but companies are different I get 56 weeks at about 30% of my usual pay

I’d say at the least 3 months but more would be even better. I only had 6 weeks off. I wasn’t even done with pp bleeding yet.

I only got 6 weeks paid . I took 3 months unpaid and just couldn't go back fulltime , I cant imagine not spending this time with my daughter . I only work 1 or 2 days a week and when I work her daddy watches her bc ill only work on his days off . I wish maternity leave was better bc we've definitely struggled financially but I wouldnt trade these memories for all the money! I'm wealthy in love not money :)
