Fear for my fertility

I found out a few months ago I have a uterine fibroid. Pretty scary mostly because it is large enough to need surgery.

This past week I have found out when my surgery is scheduled and how long I will be out for recovery.

My fear is that my abdominal myomectomy could become a surprise hysterectomy and I will loose my chance to conceive. Since I have no children and it is my first year of marriage, the prospect of never being able to have a child is so scary!

Have any of you had this procedure and can help assuage my fears? Any good vibes would be welcome too.
