C section ????

Question

How long after you have your c-section do you get to hold your baby? My sister said everyone was able to hold my niece prior to her because she was in recovery.

About 30 minutes later when I was in recovery. I made a rule that if for some reason I was unable to hold my baby no one but my husband was allowed to hold him before me. Maybe it’s selfish but I didn’t want everyone holding him before I got to hold him. You could always make a rule like that.

Like 30-40 minutes after... But not even my husband held him cause they did his tests and stuff first... But I didn’t mind if someone held baby before me..... Husband would’ve been first anyways, it’s a ‘rule’ at my hospital... parents first...

They put baby skin to skin with me in the OR while they stitched me up. When it was time to move me, my husband held the baby and then gave her right back to me when we got back to our room.

For me and my hospital it was right away technically they put them on my chest for a few minutes then they took them off to clean up do measurements and footprints which dad with while they finished me up, they then brought me back to my room no recovery room and got to hold baby minute i got in the room.

My baby was in recovery with me. I breastfed him there before we went to the room and saw anyone else. I also got to hold him (with my husband’s help) while I was still on the operating table.

At my hospital you recover in the room you're staying in. Right after I had my 1st & 2nd the nurses looked them over, let me see them for a minute and then took them to the nursery to get cleaned up, checked, etc.  I remember being back in my room before they were even finished getting checked. I might of waited 10 minutes for my son and like 5 minutes for my daughter. Got to hold them both right then.

For my hospital they let you hold baby after they get checked over and cleaned up. I passed with my first bc I was shaking too bad from the drugs and it being an emergency. My second she had fluid in her lungs so I didn’t get to hold her till I was in recovery. My husband got to hold both our babies first and I held them the whole time in recovery.

My daughter was born just before midnight and I dont really remember anything till the next morning
