Positive first trimester screening but negative panorama?

Just got the results of my first trimester screening blood and ultrasound test and the panorama. Ultrasound and panorama came back normal but first trimester screening came back high risk. I am turning 40 soon, which I think affects these results. 
Anyone else have that happen? What were the results? I am thinking that the panorama is the one to go with.

The Quad screening (which looks at protein/hormone levels) has a very, very high false positive rate, especially as you get older. 
(My mom had a false positive result in the 90’s; did an amniocentesis and my sister was just fine!) 
The cell free DNA testing (the panorama) has a much, much lower rate of false positives. 
Your doctor should be able to look at your actual results and discuss the risk with you. Or they may refer you to a genetic counselor. They can advise you on if an amniocentesis is recommended or if the panorama results mean you should skip it and not be worried.

Yes, the negative NIPT is very reassuring. The first trimester screen will give a false positive in about 1 in 20 women. The NIPT does that much less. That being said, they’re both still screening tests. Neither is diagnostic. You can always talk to your doctor about diagnostic options (CVS or amnio) if you want to know for sure.
