FIL doesn't know our child's name
I just have to vent about this because it's beyond rude and demonstrates how uncaring and unloving he is. He wasn't around much when my husband was growing up and has never showed him any love. I've had to teach my husband how to show love because his parents don't. But it still shocks, hurts, and angers me that he doesn't even know our child's name. I grew up with loving grandparents (6 of them because my dad's parents divorced and remarried before I was born). I feel awful that half of my child's grandparents don't show him love and that his grandpa doesn't even know his name.
My husband is not surprised, but as much as I know his dad is not loving - it does shock me that he doesn't even know our son's name. Grateful we don't have to see to see his parents much as these are not people I want influencing our child. Especially when they make ignorant, racist, and transphobic comments every time we do see them. Thankful for my parents who love my child more than anything else in the world, including me! Anyone else deal with this kind of crap? Most grandparents at least know their grandchildren's names! He only has three grandkids, my grandparents knew all the names of their 20+ grandkids. They managed to make each of us feel special and loved. My grandmother is very old and her mind isn't sharp anymore and she still knows my son's name. It just shows how little he cares...
