Disability?

Hello, y'all. So I'm pregnant....with twins. and I stopped working at about I want to say 22 weeks. I thought I would be able to make it till u had my twins but what I come to found out ...a multiple pregnancy is way different then carrying 1. So I took a leave of absents ....can I get disability?  I was denied but I'm assuming its because I didn't have my paperwork signed to from my Dr. ? Idk confused ...can anyone tell me the procedure for this ? Have anyone gotten disability thru job due to pregnancy ?

In CA your doctor will usually limit your work before taking you out completely unless there’s a medical reason related to your pregnancy that you just can’t work. If the limitations don’t work out or if your job won’t comply your doctor will usually take you out of work and if they don’t comply then both ways you are “disabled”. If you take yourself out I’m pretty sure that’s different.

I received short term disability only after my Dr put me on bed rest at 29 weeks due preeclampsia.

If there is no medical reason, and normal twin pregnancy is not a medical reason, they could deny any disability pay. But you may still be eligible to use your sick/vacation pay. Talk to HR and your disability people. Good luck.

This is kind of late in the game but you could always apply for FMLA. It’s not paid leave but should protect you and your position for up to 12 weeks.

I think it depends on your company’s policy. I would contact whatever agency they use for their disability leave and ask what they need to approve your leave

The state can cover short term disability but once you give birth it could be stopped but if your planning to go back to work ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ why not
