Nipple confusion??

My LO has a shallow latch in the hospital. The LC automatically gave me a nipple shield. Now baby won’t latch without it and screams her head off when I try giving her my plain nipple. 
How have you gotten a good latch after ditching the shield?

I used one for about a month or so after my daughter was born because she wouldn’t latch with it either. I took it away one day and we continued to breastfeed until she was 16 months old it’s definitely possible! If it’s still new that you’re using the shield, she may still just be learning how to latch properly.

I used a shield for a month due to pain and having flat nipples. For the first few days she hated it, she would cry and fuss and latch for a second and then spit it out. I had to literally pull my nipple out and place it in her mouth repetitively and eventually she got it. Just try that on occasion to ween her off of the shield and hopefully it works. I was so thankful for the shield but breastfeeding now has been so much more enjoyable without it. I hope you find a way to get your LO latching! Good luck, mama ❤️
