Are Ana and Anna pronunced the same ?

Question

So I see a post and a women wants to name her kid Hana (hu ah nuh) like Ana ( ah nuh) and people are saying it’s Hannah Like Anna (an nuh) or Hannah (Han nuh). Ima actually confused that so many people think it’s the same I never know that. 
That’s like Julianna and Juliana being pronounced the same or Julian and Juliann (or with an e ) idk I’ve never used the pronunciation interchangeable

I saw that thread too and thought about it the same way!! Ana and Hana pronounced like ah-nuh....Anna and Hannah are Ann-uh. I don’t understand why it’s so hard lol!

I’ve seen Anna pronounced both ways. 
Anna Faris for example pronounces her name awn-uh while Anna Kendrick is anne-uh. I think same goes for Ana. You could spell it either way and have either pronunciation.
I’ve never heard a name pronounced hawn-uh though, and wether it was spelled Hana or Hannah I would say it han-uh (unless someone corrected me)

I personally pronounce Ana- Awna and Anna- Ann-a. And cannot think of any way to add the H without it being pronounced  Hannah. Maybe Honna. Which I think looks snd sounds awful.

I’m with you. Ana is aw-nuh and Hana is haw-nuh though like one poster said, I have seen some Anna’s go by the Ana pronunciation but never vice versa.

In my limited personal experience, Ana tends to lean Spanish or Portuguese and Anna tends to lead more English. Pronounciation for either spelling is up to the person

I've always pronounced Ana and Anna the same way. I'm in the UK. My sister in law is called Ana Paula and she is Brazilian. She pronounces it just like Anna.

I’ve heard both pronunciations using both spellings. (A-nuh or O-nuh) But I’ve never heard of Hanna/Hannah being pronounced with the O sound.
