*UPDATED** do yoi ever feel like something is missing in your relationship ?
I’ve been dating my boyfriend for 5 months. I am so in love with him. Things have been going great, as great as they possibly could, besides my mental issues (bad anxiety and overthinking.)
However, when we got together he had only been divorced for 5 months. We’ve been together 5 months, and he said “I love you” first, (he started tearing up after he said it) but I feel like there’s something missing. I feel like he doesn’t love me as a person. He loves talking to me and we have fun and make eachother laugh, and he compliments my body a lot (I kind of hate this; because I’ve been “thick” or too thick, for my whole life and sometimes I feel like that’s all men see me for).. however my compliments are a lot different than his. My compliments are
“I appreciate you.”
“You’re the best boyfriend ever.”
“Thank you for listening and being here for me.”
“Thank you for being patient with me.”
“You make me feel safe.”
(I also give him physical compliments)
His compliments are
“My baby is so thick”
“How’d I get so lucky?” (While pointing to my butt)
“You’re fine as hell”
“We’re such an attractive couple”
The only non physical compliment he’s given me was “I appreciate you and thank you for sticking by my side and encouraging me.” (When he was trying to get hired at a new job.)
I’ve brought it up with him before, and he says he doesn’t mean to focus on the physical stuff, but that he’s just so overwhelmed that he was able to “snag me”, and he said he’s not good with words.
I don’t know if this is normal for men, to express compliments as physical compliments or if it’s just mine and something is wrong? Is he still healing from his ex, and it will take him longer to feel deep feelings for me? Because I feel like I’m already completely in love.
I brought it up last night. Here are our messages that
