What to expect after a d&c?

Found out today I had a missed miscarriage. Baby stopped growing at least three weeks ago and I'm still having symptoms and feeling pregnant in general. 
I'm getting a d&c tomorrow. 
This was my first pregnancy and while this sounded like the least painful option i am still worried about what to expect after getting something like this done and my body suddenly realizing I an no longer pregnant :(

My first I miscarried naturally and suddenly. My 2nd I opted for the D&C and it was the best decision I made mentally, physically and emotionally. I had some mild cramping that night and spotting for maybe a week. The surgery was done around 3pm, home by 6p. Even went out to eat the next afternoon at a brewery and had a few beers that day. I was so happy to move on and be able to focus on healing and not worrying about when or if I would finally miscarry. 
I’m now 38 weeks pregnant with a healthy boy after waiting one cycle♥️♥️♥️ don’t give up hope and don’t stress about the surgery or recovery I just kept telling myself I was going to take a nap and surgery terrifies me so if I can do it anyone can.

I had a D&C after I tried inducing with cytotec because I retained tissues that became infected after my MMC. I wish I had just gotten the D&C instead of trying to induce. The pain of induction is similar but not as intense as labor. You are making the right decision, I will never be able to get the image of my baby out of my head. There is mild discomfort after the D&C but Tylenol takes care of it. The worst part is feeling empty. The emotional pain is much worse than the physical with the D&C. Even though you wont want to, make sure you get out of the house a little everyday that you have taken off. Even if you literally go to your porch for 5 minutes or drive around in your car without going anywhere. I secluded myself in my home for a month and fell into a deep depression. When I started getting out again it was hard but little by little I realized I needed to get out to get better. Do something just for you like a massage or your hair or a hike, anything that you like to treat yourself. Grief demands to be felt, feeling it is the only way to move forward. You will be okay. You will get your rainbow baby if you want to try again, but give yourself the time you need first.❤

I’m sorry for your loss. How far along do they think you were when baby stopped growing?  I opted for D&C when I miscarried at 8 weeks.  It was pain free and gave me peace of mind just have it over with as quick as possible. There is no pain at all after. Not even sore or cramping. I bled similar to a light period for about 5 days. Then 4 weeks later had a period. It was pretty comparable to my normal periods before pregnancy but lasted an extra couple days. Nothing major.   Good luck to you.
