HBCU?🤔

Hi, does anyone on here go to an hbcu and can tell me about their experience? I’m thinking about transferring to one.

I go to an HBCU (Bowie state) and honestly don’t waste your time. Financial aid office is horrible, the food is bad and the learning experience is bad. While I do have professors who are passionate about their field and have a background related to most of my classes it is difficult to work with them as most of them aren’t given offices or the proper tools needed to communicate with their students. Also HBCUs are not as reputable as PWIs. If you want to know anything else feel free to ask!

I go to an HBCU and it has been an amazing experience. I grew up going to predominantly white schools and the same way people often tell stories to make themselves seem like a victim or like they weren’t wrong, that’s the way that American history is taught in most public schools in Georgia. When it comes to African American history, we’re literally only taught  about slavery. That’s it. Schools don’t teach students about African Kings and queens. Or about how gigantic Africa actually is. They make students think it’s just a poor little place but it’s actually huge. My point, we’re not taught about actual African history, only the things that will make us feel like we come from a place of poverty and being slaves. But at an HBCU, you learn about where you really come from and how much worth black people actually have regardless of what our society and schools teach us. You learn the truth and you’re surrounded by people who are like you. Idk if you’re black or not. It’s not just for black kids. But if you are, you’ll finally be able to feel what it’s like to be around people who are like you and understand the things that you may go through just because you’re a minority. White history is totally different than black history and you’ll be able to learn about who you are for a change. The community is like a giant family.
