Long shot - are there any ultrasound techs in this group who specialise in detecting eye abnormalities?
I know this is a long shot, i recently had a scan at 32 weeks, my scan was to check to see if baby boy has developed cataracts in his eyes, i was born with them and so was my first child, ours were detected at birth, not in utero. My second child was born perfectly normal. Congenital cataracts are rare, about 1 in 10000 births and require surgery followed by many appointments and treatments within weeks after delivery for the best outcone.
Anyway, we made the 2 hour drive and i had my scan, with people who are supposed to specialise in detecting abnormalities, unfortunately though they have never personally come across a case of cataracts being detected on a scan because its rare, but they 'feel' baby may have them, because in certain images his eyes dont appear normal. I am trying to figure out how to get a second opinion but its proving to be difficult,
The stress is eating at me, of course i will do everything in my power to give him the best outcome when hes here but i want to mentally prepare myself for the journey ahead, as the first time led me to have severe post natal depresson, i have a copy of all the images, i was just wondering if there were any techs on here who may be able to take a look. Thank you if you read until the end.
